Birth Certificate
A certified birth certificate that can typically be used for travel, passport, proof of citizenship, social security, driver's license, school registration, personal identification and other legal purposes. Birth Certificates are available for events that occurred within the State of Connecticut.
Certification Of Birth (Wallet Size)
A Certification of Birth (Wallet Size) contains less information than that of a full size birth certificate. It may not satisfy all proof of identification requirements, such as those needed to obtain passports. Certifications are available for events that occurred within the State of Connecticut.
Death Certificate
A certified death certificate that can typically be used to obtain death benefits, claim insurance proceeds, notify social security and other legal purposes. Death Certificates are available for events that occurred within the State of Connecticut.
Marriage Certificate
A certified copy of the Certificate of Marriage that can be used as proof of marriage. This is not a copy of the marriage license. Marriage records are available for events that occurred within the State of Connecticut from 1897 to present.
Civil Union Certificate
A certificate copy of the Certificate of Civil Union, which can be used as proof of civil union. A civil union is a legal union between two people of the same sex which grants the parties all the same benefits, protections and responsibilities under state law, whether derived from the general statutes, administrative regulations or court rules, policy, common law or any other source of civil law, as are granted to spouses in a marriage. The laws allowing civil unions became effective October 1, 2005.
